Torremolinos

Welcome to Torremolinos, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain with an extensive history. This is a town that has improved year after year in order to offer visitors a range of services and fun attractions that is continuously growing in size and options. In the heart of the Costa del Sol, Torremolinos stands out for its climate, beaches and the chance to enjoy outdoor sports – with golf being the main attraction – great cuisine and the town’s nightlife.

Beaches

The main tourist draw in Torremolinos is its beaches. The town has almost seven kilometres of coastline and its main beaches are Los Alamos, Playamar, El Bajondillo and La Carihuela.

All of Torremolinos’ beaches are urban beaches that can be accessed from the beach promenade (Paseo Marítimo). In general, they are dark sand beaches with moderate waves. They are normally quite busy in summer months, with the most popular being El Bajondillo and La Carihuela, which are located in the town centre. The former is over a kilometre in length and 40 metres wide. La Carihuela is two kilometres in length and approximately the same width as El Bajondillo. La Carihuela is located in the old fishing district of the same name: here, you will find a plethora of restaurants serving ‘pescaito frito’, the area’s speciality of fried fish.

There are many tourist services available on Torremolinos’ beaches: the promenade, sunshades, sunbeds, bars, restaurants, newspaper stands and more.

Gastronomy

The Province of Malaga is probably the best place for sampling the famous ‘pescaito frito’. Torremolinos has an endless number of restaurants and beach bars along its coast where you can enjoy fried seafood in addition to acclaimed sardine ‘espetos’ (sardine skewers). The fishing boat wood fires instantly grab your attention while you can smell their unmistakeable aroma from almost any point of the promenade, inviting you to simple all their cooked products with their special flavour. You should also visit La Carihuela. This is a charming fishing town where any of the numerous restaurants it boasts would be the perfect spot for an excellent rice dish or a portion of calamari and anchovies in vinegar.

Nightlife

One of the most famous nightlife areas in Torremolinos is located on Los Alamos Beach (just a five-minute drive away from the hotel), where a succession of beach bars similar to Ibizan beach clubs offer clients great music, cocktails and a fun atmosphere both during the day and at night. Balinese beds, sunbeds, avant-garde cuisine and a glamorous setting make any one of these places the perfect spot to spend the day or head out for drinks.

Outdoor Activities

If you enjoy keeping fit, the Costa del Sol and its surrounding areas are the ideal destination. Ranging from golf at the many courses in the province (the Costa del Sol is also known as the Costa del Golf due to the high concentration of courses here) to adventure activities, such as canyoning, mountain biking, diving, kite surfing, hiking and more, you can enjoy many sports. You will also find a variety of recreational options at the beach, such as jet skiing or banana boating. You could even enjoy a relaxing pedalo ride.

Children and families will find all the fun they need at the region’s multiple theme parks, including Aquapark, Crocodile Park, Selwo Marina and Tivoli Theme Park. The Benalmadena cable car is also well worth a ride.

Excursions

Torremolinos is just an hour away from places of extraordinary beauty and cultural interest. There are several day trips you could enjoy, including visiting the Axarquia area and its White Towns Route. You should also visit Maro’s beaches with their crystal-clear waters and head to the Caves of Nerja on the way, as well as charming towns like Frigiliana. Ronda is another classic and a highly recommended option among tourists. Closer to Torremolinos, you have Benalmadena, which is a great place for a beer or soft drink in the early evening while you enjoy its magnificent views of the coast. A little farther away, you have Granada (approximately 120 kilometres away) and its stunning Alhambra. Ask the hotel staff if you would like to find out more or if you have any questions. We’re more than happy to help.
